The Second Leg of Paradise?s 2012 Cultural World?s Fair & Buy Black Wednesdays present: SPEAK UP! A poetry, creative writing and speaking workshop! This event will be a (GUARANTEE!) turning point in your life, as Master Poet & Performance Artist Supreme, Paradise Freejahlove shares with you the best of his knowledge, experience and expertise in the arts and the world gleaned from decades of phenomenal work (!).
The workshop will be followed by A Master Poet?s Theater, featuring 10 Kweens & a Mic! and Paradise performing theatrical pieces of Muhammad Ali, Cyrano deBergerac and The Occupy Movement with a cameo by Barack Obama! Also featured will Dr. Ellen Foster-Randle (Our own modern day and local Leontyne Price!) who sings and lectures on the music from Afrika that started it all, the Negro Spirituals! And jazz maestro, Rudi M. Wongozi, fresh from a triumphant four year stint in New York, will be in the building annointing the joint with his incredible music!
Workshop 3 to 6pm, sliding scale (Normally $75, but no one turned away for lack of funds, donations submitted anonymously in envelopes and includes free entrance to the performance). Poetry reading and performances 6 to 8pm, free. This will be a truly special day!
