What brand of Dog Food & treats should I get? And when should I change a Puppy Food into an adult food.?
I know the most popular one is pedigree. But is there any other cheaper but good Quality Dog Food. Perhaps 'Alpo'. What about treats? Can I use the dog food as well? Or can I use treats with no brand?
What age is apropriate for the exchange? Should I buy a whole big pack of dog food or smaller packs?
Please answer.
Pedigree and Alpo and anything you can get at Wal-Mart or the supermarket is garbage. Go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com and pick a 4 star or better food. I personally feed my dogs Canidae. They love it and it is affordable consitering when I fed Pedigree I would buy a 40 pound bag every week and a half to 2 weeks. Now I buy 40 pounds of Canidae every 3-4 weeks. They eat less when on a better food and if you decide to feed Canidae it is for all life stages so no changing food ever. Other good ones are Innova EVO, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, but stear clear of things like pedigree, science diet, eukaneuba, alpo, kibbles and bits. Its basically like letting your dog eat McDonalds all day every day. They dont live as long and arent as healthy with crappy foods. Pick one that works for you and your budget and still lets your dog be healthy.
Treats come in all kinds of varieties. When training we do just a piece of dry kibble for our dogs as a reward when needed. Other than that we get Canidae snap biscuits and some wellness treats as well. And my dogs love Kongs so they have Kong treats too.

NOTE. There are two principles on which, in any given state of Agriculture, the produce of the land may be augmented; (1) increase of cost, and (2) increase of care. In the present condition of the markets, probably, on all our better-farmedsoils, any augmentation of produce, secured by increased outlay, would result in diminished profits. But increased carefulness is necessarily accompanied by augmented profits; and the present papers, reprinted from the textit{Daily Free Press, illustrating one example of augmented produce arising from increased attention, may help to recommend the principle thus suggested. May, 1870. AGRICULTURAL BOTANY. TURNIP SINGLING. A good deal has recently been done towards clearing up our views on certain points in the manuring: of the turnip, and I have thought it might be of some interest to inquire in one or two directions in what way the turnip crop ought to be treated, Bo that manurial improvements might be more fully taken advantage of. A cattle-feeder does not think he has done all that can be done when he keeps his stalls replenished with the best food. He selects the sorts of cattle most easily fed and of most rapid growth. And he treats them in such a way as to make the food given most effective. The agriculturist must act in an analagous way with his turnips. He must not mi-rely supply his seeds with the best manure; he must select the best seeds ; he must find out the sorts which grow rapidly to the largest sizes consistent with the heaviest crops. He must give his plants the proper space to grow in. He must use them " as though he loved them." Even from this pre-eminently turnip-growini; country, the glory of discovering the true cause of finger-and-toe has been carried off by a Russian. M817575 M. Woronin has clearly shown t... |
